In August of 2006 we took a short trip to one of the jewels in our National Park System: Glacier National Park.

Glacier National Park distinctive in its remoteness and limited accessability. There is only one road passing through the park and only a couple of minor roads that go short distances into the park. If you want to see very much of the park you have to get out and walk - mostly up, and a lot.

Glacier NP consists of these beautiful, glacier carved rugged mountains. The high passes are despolate and the mountain valleys are lush with vegistrations and glacial streams.

This year there was a big fire on the East side of the park. As sad as it is to see our forests burn, it is also a hint at the natural cycle of the forest.
